Saddle up, take the reins and off you go: not only the wild horses at the Geltinger Birk are interesting to watch; why not try a rider's perspective yourself to discover the Schlei and Baltic Sea? It's great fun for both people and animals, and in many places you can find a box for your horse for the time being.

On cosy bridle paths you can discover a variety of natural landscapes on horseback. The small Schlei villages or enchanted bathing bays invite you to take a break.

The backlands between Geltinger Bucht and Eckernförder Bucht also offer a lot of space for horseback trips. At the Geltinger Bucht you can go horse riding directly at the beach during off-peak season. Wherever you go, you will discover small and large sights by the wayside.

Bridle paths in Schwansen

The Baltic Sea region for horse fans

Pferd auf der Wiese in Waabs an der Ostsee

Small villages in the middle of wide nature. Magnificent manors with inviting farmsteads. Natural beaches at the Baltic Sea. The Schwansen peninsula between Kappeln and Eckernförde allures with many attractions – and is still an insiders' tip.Great opportunities for horse riding can be found between the historical manors. Time and again the view goes far up to the lovely blue sea. The best way to discover Schwansen on horseback are the bridle paths made by the local interest group Reitwege Schwansen.

Please note: a one-time fee of €15 has to be paid to use these 30 kilometre long bridle paths. The entitlement to access and use them is valid for four weeks starting from the day of payment. An annual pass for the bridle paths in Schwansen is €35.

The Schlei-Baltic Sea-Region as a perfect cycling destination

We are passionate cyclers and never thought of these hilly routs up in the north of Germany. It really was a big surprise. Our children love horses and are looking forward to every Schlei vacation for easter- or summer holidays.
