Quality, regionality and seasonality are the three foundations on which restaurants around the Schlei and the Baltic Sea build. In many snug cafés of this region, you can find the first-class handcrafted art of confectionery such as delicious cakes with the finest ingredients the local gardens have to offer. Have you, for example, heard of the fluffy and fruity Trümmertorte?

Country inns and peaceful restaurants take care of remarkable main dishes. On the menu you can find freshly caught herring and codfish as well as meat from Galloway cattle and Angeln Saddleback directly from local farmers.

Or perhaps you fancy a snack between meals? How about a freshly smoked fish from the smokehouse or a "Fischbrötchen" – a bread roll with fish – from the bistro directly at the water? One thing is for sure: restaurants with regional products at the Baltic Sea fjord Schlei simply have fantastic dishes. When you enjoy the delicacies you are in for treat.

Guest Feedback

We'd like to show our kids where our food has got it's origin

We live in a metropolis and don't have the possibility to show our kids where our food has got its origin how a cow, a pig or a chicken looks like. So we love to be here, where our children could get in touch with animals, with farm shops, weekly markets or farms.
