Slow down, it's time forA village history: Maasholm
A true Schlei-fishermen tradition
Maasholm once was an island and evolved from a small fishing settlement in the 17th century. Today's peninsula in the Schlei is only accessible via a dyke. To this day, the population of Maasholm still values their old seafaring traditions. The listed berths of the cranes and the listed station of the sea rescue service are evidence of that.
However, it is not only the seafarer's history which is interesting about Maasholm, considering the largest marina in Schleswig-Holstein with over 450 berths. This is the perfect starting point to set sail on the Schlei or into Danish waters.
By the way: because of its location and the special atmosphere, Maasholm was chosen as the "most beautiful village in Schleswig-Holstein" several times. Isn't that reason enough to pay this marvellous gem between the Schlei and Baltic Sea a visit?
