Slow down, it's time forA village history: Rieseby
Manors in Rieseby
Rieseby has always been a popular residence at the Schlei with a number of manors. The Saxdorf, Büstorf and Stubbe Estates were built here, where social life took place. Today, the Stubbe Estate is well-known for its wide variety of regional products and for a beautiful café with unobstructed panoramic views of the Schlei.
The Anna Windmill is particularly beautiful. Originally, she was erected in Westerhever and was moved to Rieseby in 1911. Inside you can find a lovely museum of local history with about 2,000 exhibits. A wedding chamber is available for wedding ceremonies. There's also an artist's studio at the mill offering beautiful regional artworks.
The St. Petri Church in Rieseby is assumed to date back to the 13th century and is known to be one of the most magnificent churches in Schleswig-Holstein – definitely worth a visit. The opening hours are from 8AM to 4PM in the time between Easter and the harvest festival. Visitors are welcome.
Besides the already mentioned cultural aspects, Rieseby is one of the Schlei villages offering a lot of space for cycle and hiking tours. Shops are available for your daily needs during your holidays.
