Historical Information

How the Tourist Association and the tourist information office of the Schleidörfer (Schlei villages) got together

Tourist information office Süderbrarup is located in Königstraße in Süderbrarup, directly opposite the market square of this Schlei village where there is a weekly market with a wide range of regional products every Friday. Königstraße (royal road) was named after the Danish king Frederick VII. Constabulary sergeant Johann Hinrich Saußen lived in house no. 3 in 1898. After his death, the house was passed to his daughter.

In 1987, the office of Süderbrarup moved into the building and, after the necessary renovation work, made it available to the Tourist Association of the Schleidörfer, which still has its seat there.

And a special tip: every year at the last weekend in July, a popular feast is held at the market square in Süderbrarup, the "Brarupmarkt". This annual market has been in Süderbrarup for more than 400 years and is the largest rural fair in Schleswig-Holstein.

Tourist information office Schleidörfer can be found in Süderbrarup, when you follow Hauptstraße to the market square and turn left.
